Grandma went to be with Jesus

Friday evening, around 7pm my grandma went to be with Jesus.  I was able to spend some time talking with her Friday morning, and I am so grateful for that!  She is no longer in pain and I praise God for that!  She was only sick in the hospital for less then 3 weeks, so she didn't have to suffer long.  More details here

Please pray for my grandpa, because the love of his life has left him.  Thank-you.

So much to do...so little time!

Since things are quite busy, and it's only 33 sleeps till the wedding, I will probably be on here a lot less, but I will hopefully be able to pop in every once in a while to update you all on the progress!

Thanks for reading!

We've got colour!

None of the paints we bought are the exact colours that I posted earlier, but we are really excited about them!  I tried to find pictures online of the colours, but I am unsuccessful!  So, you will just have to wait!

It was a bit of a crazy weekend.  Friday at one location we were told the big sale (Buy 2 get 1 free) on paint was only till Thursday, then Saturday my Mom and I went into a different location, and they said the sale was on till 4pm.  So I phoned Ev, he had most of the samples that I wanted, so we talked through most of it, I picked one colour, and he likes it!

Saturday Ev, one of his friends and my brother in law got tons of work done.  They did some wiring, fixed a hole in the floor which used to be a return vent into the 2nd room and is now where the doorway to the closet is.  They narrowed the closet door to 26" rough instead of 32" rough, so that we can have more closet storage.  They also drywalled the ceiling in the master, and part of the "new" wall.  We will need to do some work on the floor to fix where the closet was, as well as in the door way from the bedroom to the closet.  They also got a bunch of lumber for framing the rest of it, a standard light fixture so that they can have light in there and some different screws etc!

It's so exciting to see it start to feel like a room again!  I can't wait to paint!!

Saturday my Dad's side of the family surprised me with a Pampered Chef bridal shower!  Yipee, more Pampered chef!  It was really fun, and now I get to make out another wish list!

Please Pray

My grandma (my dad's mom) has been in the hospital for a week or so.  Her blood sugar levels have been really low, so she becomes very lethargic, non coherent or talking gibberish.  They have been giving her lots of sugar water, cookies, juice etc to try to get her sugar levels.  Yesterday they took her from the local hospital to the big city hospital for tests and to confirm their diagnosis, bone cancer.

My grandma will be turning 92 in July, so she isn't a young spring chick, but I ask that you pray that she isn't in pain and for my grandpa as well.  I know that God can heal her and I also know that she wants to go to heaven, so it is in the Lord's hands!  I appreciate your prayers!

A splash of colour

We are currently trying to pick colours for our house.  The master bedroom is the main focus right now, since it needs to be done in 4 weeks!  Here are some amazing colours and inspirations.

I love this room for many reasons.  Love the wall colour, so calm and soothing.  Love the floors (ours are very similar).  Love the white trim and crown molding.  Love the fabric.  Love the fabric covered closets idea too.  I've been toying with this exact idea for a while now, (post here) so it's great to see that I'm not crazy and how beautiful it turned out!

This dark blue/purple/grey colour is amazing!  I love it, especially with the black and white furniture/accents!  It's also a colour that isn't super girly, or super manly which is amazing!  I showed Ev this picture and he also likes it!  I do have 2 white dressers that may end up in our bedroom, so that would look great!  If you follow the link to her blog you can see her green dresser (its peeking in on the right edge of the pic), which is also amazing!  I also love those curtains and the huge cube shelves!

Going darker  yet is this beautiful grey!  Man it looks so amazing with the white contrasting trim!  Can you tell I love white trim!

This is also really pretty!  Like a relaxing sanctuary

So, I love the light blueish/green colours and the dark blue/purple/grey/brown colours.

This one is really cool, Everett isn't a fan, but I love the wall colour and headboard
(I can't remember where I found this :( sorry )

So, do we go dark or light?

40 Sleeps

Till I get married :D :D :D

Weekend successes

I had a great weekend, what about you?

Friday I was able to accomplish a few things on my list.  It snowed overnight and all morning, into the afternoon, so when I left work right before lunch there was tons of snow on the road!  Everything was white, the road, the sky, the ditches, everything!  I had to drive 40 most of the gravel roads, because I had no idea where the road was, but praise God, he lead me safely to town!

I met my mom at the florist to go through all the flowers, and sort them into the different bouquets, boutineers and corsages etc.  The florist had started working on some of the bunches, which were beautiful, so I'm very excited to see the final product!

Then I dyed my mom's hair, which is somewhat of a regular occurrence.  It's easy and fun to chat!  After that Ev and I headed to the city to spend some time with his parents.  One of his mom's friends was over, helping her sew baby blankets.  Her friend just became a grandma and they found out that the hospital needs a lot of baby receiving blankets to give to families, so she has started sewing a whole bunch of baby blankets.  I helped pin the edges while we all visited, then ate supper and headed over to Bible study.  It was so good to see all the ppl again and fellowship!

On Saturday we ended up leaving the city later then we wanted to, but all 4 of us (Me, A, K and Everett) made it out to my parents farm, and from there they guys went to our house to get some work done!  They did prep work for gyproc, some cleaning up and framed a door way!  I'm excited to see the progress!

In the afternoon we had our Christmas gathering, with my mom's side of the family!  It was good to see the family again, and fun to visit and eat scrumptious food!  Then it was back to the city for all 4 of us!

Sunday we were visiting a different church to hear one of Ev's friends preach!  He did a great job, it was motivating and a good reminder of what True Love is, does, and looks like.  How important it is for Christ followers to mirror that love to everyone around us!  We also got tuxes ordered and measured, which was high time!  I'm glad it's done!  We spent the rest of Sunday with Everett's parents and then headed back
to our "neck of the woods" in the snow!  I'm trying very hard to enjoy winter and the snow, but it's difficult for me!

The great reveal

On Monday evening Ev and I were at our house trying to finalize/make decisions for the wedding, as well as our house.  We did some measuring, trying to finalize where we want the door from the master to the closet.

In the 2nd room we have that great yellowish/brown linoleum right now (picture above) and I was very curious if the original hardwood floor was underneath, since the master is the original hardwood. (see here)  So I started pulling and yanking on a chunk where we tore out the closet, and lo and behold...

HARDWOOD :D :D :D

Yipee!  I'm really excited about that!  But who knows, we may end up covering some of it, or taking some out, since we don't really want hardwood in the bathroom.  It's kind of a shame, but we'll see what we decide.

The Reno - Cleaning up edition

So, after all the smashing, pulling, sawing and all the laths and plaster were down, we had to clean it up.  We had already taken away one trailer load, so it wasn't a huge amount of work, well, for me it was very little, because I wasn't even there!  Everett's brother and dad came to help him on Jan 3rd, they all had the day off!  It was grand!

From the 2nd bedroom looking at the Master

The 2nd bedroom window

Our current bathroom plumbing, that corner will be our master bath.

The guys went ahead and took down the whole ceiling/walls of the stairs too :D
Door from 2nd bedroom into dining room
This is where the pantry will be :)
Now taking a bit of a different angle, looking at the door to the basement

And open that door right up and what do you see???
Pretty much everything! Master bedroom..
Soon to be pantry area, walk in closet area....
You can't really see where the bathroom is going...
but you can see the basement :P
This (above)  is where my little tools (below) once had a home! See post.

Oh look, Everett's in the basement.

In this one he reminds me of a hedgehog or a gopher popping out of his hole!
And one more from the master bedroom.

The Reno - Tear Down Edition Part 2

Here are some more pictures of the tearing down process!  I tried to put them in "chronological" order, hopefully it worked!  If you missed Part 1 click here.

 Before - wall and mirror

After - no wall or mirror :D
Notice on the left side there is still most of the closet

And...now it's gone!

Then we did a morning of cleaning up all the master bedroom.

Ev backed the trailer through our front yard, through all the snow up to the window. We opened up the window and chucked all the laths, plaster, drywall, beams etc out the
window onto the trailer.  FUN!

And started tearing down the walls in the 2nd room. :D
Sorry, there was still dust in the air when I took some of these
Yipee :D Reno is coming along!
