Quilt brainstorming

I have two quilts that I am trying to brainstorm for, the first a baby quilt and the second a quilt for myself.

Firstly and most importantly I am going to concentrate on the baby quilt, as my friends baby is due to arrive any day now!  I made this baby quilt back in March/April, and I have quite a bit of left over fabric, so I'm thinking of using the fabric, but I'm unsure of which pattern to make.  Some beautiful ideas are:

Then there is this cute one by Amy's Creative Side

And then last night as I was laying there thinking..thinking..thinking some more...and then some more thinking, I just couldn't turn my brain off, I thought to myself, I could do some simple squares with scripture references on them, referring to a word that describes us as God's children, eg/ Loved ~ John 3:16 or something along those lines.  So then I was trying to come up with words and references, and I found some, but I need to do some more digging/brainstorming.  I like the idea, but I'm not quite sure!

I also have some really cute animal ideas that I've seen on some blogs, like this:

I was reminded of these when I read Katie's blog, The Bright Life.  She posted this super cute owl/squirrel bookends pic.

How cute!  I went to the etsy site and found all sorts of inspiring little creatures!  So now I'm back to loving that idea!  I just don't have much time, so I'm hesitant about taking on such a big project with such little amount of time!  We'll see what I come up with!

My Ravelry Project

Since it has been a few months since I last took a stab at knitting, I decided it would probably be wise to start off with a smaller project, but something that I am very excited about!  A scarf - this one to be exact!

I
t's beautiful and I can't wait to complete it!  I went with a dark mossy green wool that I had since I wanted to start the project right away, but I would love to find a mustardy yellow like in the picture!   The pattern is by Jane Richmond, and all of you should visit her blog and her Etsy shop!  She is brilliant!
