New Desk
So I found a desk online for $20! So I snatched it up. It needs some TLC. The plan is to fix the drawer sliding things, add a coat of paint and find some new handles/knobs for it!
It will be my sewing machines new home! Currently my sewing machine is resting on a board that is between 2 green storage towers, see here, so I'm excited to have an actual desk for it!
I also realized by looking at those old pictures that my room has changed in the last few months, little details! Maybe I'll snap a few pics again soon!

Quilt brainstorming
I have two quilts that I am trying to brainstorm for, the first a baby quilt and the second a quilt for myself.
Firstly and most importantly I am going to concentrate on the baby quilt, as my friends baby is due to arrive any day now! I made this baby quilt back in March/April, and I have quite a bit of left over fabric, so I'm thinking of using the fabric, but I'm unsure of which pattern to make. Some beautiful ideas are:
And then last night as I was laying there thinking..thinking..thinking some more...and then some more thinking, I just couldn't turn my brain off, I thought to myself, I could do some simple squares with scripture references on them, referring to a word that describes us as God's children, eg/ Loved ~ John 3:16 or something along those lines. So then I was trying to come up with words and references, and I found some, but I need to do some more digging/brainstorming. I like the idea, but I'm not quite sure!
I also have some really cute animal ideas that I've seen on some blogs, like this:

I was reminded of these when I read Katie's blog, The Bright Life. She posted this super cute owl/squirrel bookends pic.

How cute! I went to the etsy site and found all sorts of inspiring little creatures! So now I'm back to loving that idea! I just don't have much time, so I'm hesitant about taking on such a big project with such little amount of time! We'll see what I come up with!

Day Off and PJ Pants
So I have the day off today from working the weekend! My goal is to actually start and maybe complete sewing pj pants for myself. I bought some purple flannel a few months ago and finally pre-shrunk it and now I'm ready to go! The main reason for sewing my own is because pj pants are always too short for my long legs :P Wish me luck! Pics to come!

The quilt is FINISHED...
Well, mostly! I still need to stitch on a few buttons and do the actual quilting, but that won't take too long, and I can work on that when I'm in Calgary! So that's really a big relief! Today was my last day to work on it and it was complete at 9:14pm! I took pictures, but they are on my laptop at home, so you'll have to wait till I'm back from my vacation to see them!

My first quilt!
So, lately I've been more into sewing! Since I brought my sewing machine here and made my sewing nook I've been more inspired, and had more time! So about 2 weeks ago I started on a baby quilt for one of my close friends! They don't know the gender the baby and since it is their first I figured I would go with "gender neutral" colours/themes! I'm very excited about this quilt, being my first one. It also has a lot of hand sewing details which makes it easy to take along almost anywhere to work on! I'm finished almost all the hand sewing, hopefully I can finish that up tonight/tomorrow and then it's just sewing the squares together and finishing touches! Here's a picture of the pattern I'm using! I am hoping to take some pictures this weekend of mine and will have them posted asap!

My Sewing Nook!
A few weeks ago I brought my sewing machine from my parents house to mine and I had it sitting on my very small dining table because I didn't have a desk/space for it. Yesterday I had a brilliant idea that I would use my green storage towers to keep all my sewing supplies. I continued thinking and thought I could easily place a board across to bridge the two towers and create a "desk". So, that's exactly what I did, and it worked out smashingly! I found this big bulletin board at my office that wasn't being used and now voila, my sewing nook! I'm quite impressed with it. Now I just want to sew sew sew!
The first picture is a view from my door looking into my room, the second is my nook :)
