Pumpkin Brulee

So we tried something new, Pumpkin Brulee. I have never made any kind of Brulee before, but it was actually easy and boy was that tasty!  Last year I tried making pumpkin flan and it was a bit of a nightmare, so I was hoping this wouldn't turn out the same and I was happily surprised!  The recipe is at the bottom of the post!  Enjoy!

Pumpkin Brulee
Makes 8 servings

1 can (15oz) solid-pack pumpkin
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
2 omega-3 enriched eggs
1 cup fat-free evaporated milk
2 Tbsp turbinado sugar
1 Tbsp orange zest (not the bath soap)

1. Preheat oven to 325 F. Coat eight 4oz ramekins with cooking spray, and set aside.

2. Combine pumpkin and brown sugar in a large bowl.  Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Stir until well combined. Add eggs and milk, and mix until thoroughly combined. Divide pumpkin mixture equally among ramekins.

3. Arrange ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 30min. Remove from oven and sprinkle 3/4 teaspoon turbinado sugar over each dish.  Broil for 2-4min, until sugar melts. Serve warm. Garnish with orange zest.

Starbucks + Pumpkin spice = Aaaaaamazing

Pumpkin Spice Blended Coffee Frappuccino®

So like many people out there, I love Starbucks!  I also really love Pumpkin things, as I've mentioned before!  Last year I ordered pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks every chance I had!  This year, I'm mixing it up!

During the warm summer months I often enjoy their Green Tea Frapps, and a few weeks back my boyfriend took me to Starbucks.  Well it was a warm day, but the Pumpkin Spice was back, so I had a bit of a dilema, and asked if I could have a PUMPKIN SPICE FRAPP!!! They said yes! There's a new beverage in town!  :)

Pumpkin Waffles!

YUMMMM! You must try this recipe!  It's so good!  We made them on Monday for brunch!  (I took the pics with my phone so they aren't the greatest)

I made Spiced Waffle Sauce instead of Spiced Whipped Cream because my boyfriend's family
loves my waffle sauce, although Spiced Whipped Cream would also be delicious!!

Pumpkin Pie

So I thought we would start out with my Mom's Pumpkin Pie recipe, as this is where my pumpkin love started.  Enjoy!

Pumpkin Pie

1 Tbsp flour
½ tsp salt
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup maple syrup
½ tsp. each ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
1 Tbsp. melted butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
2 cups pumpkin

Prepare pie shell.   Mix all the ingredients, using either canned or steamed pumpkin.  Pour mixture into the shell.   Bake at 450º F for 12 minutes, then down to 325 for 30 minutes.  Test – cut into filling center with knife – knife should come out clean and the slit stays – it’s done!   Serve with whipped cream.

Pumpkin this, pumpkin that, a little pumpkin here, a little pumpkin there...

I LOVE pumpkin EVERYTHING!  I can't remember ever having something that had pumpkin in it and not liking it!  So, this fall, I'm going to attempt to make a whole bunch of pumpkiny things, all from scratch (or as many as humanly possible)!  This may cause me to have so much pumpkin that I start to dislike it, but that's very highly unlikely!  So, I hope that you're along for the ride, and if you have any yummy or neat "pumpkiny" things to share, please do, the more the merrier! I'm hoping to do some work on my blog, for now I will label all  Pumpkin Love posts as such, and maybe I can make something else work!
