Fall colours

Tonight I was waiting for my yummy salmon to be cooked and I saw a huge hawk fly by my house, so I grabbed my camera and headed outside!  Of course by the time I got there the bird was no where to be seen, but I took the opportunity to capture some of the beautiful fall colours.  Now I'm no expert, so bear with me!  It turns out that I'm also no expert at uploading my own pictures, so those will be posted at a later date, but for now, these are some taken by a friend.  Enjoy!

Pumpkin Pie

So I thought we would start out with my Mom's Pumpkin Pie recipe, as this is where my pumpkin love started.  Enjoy!

Pumpkin Pie

1 Tbsp flour
½ tsp salt
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup maple syrup
½ tsp. each ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
1 Tbsp. melted butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
2 cups pumpkin

Prepare pie shell.   Mix all the ingredients, using either canned or steamed pumpkin.  Pour mixture into the shell.   Bake at 450ยบ F for 12 minutes, then down to 325 for 30 minutes.  Test – cut into filling center with knife – knife should come out clean and the slit stays – it’s done!   Serve with whipped cream.

Pumpkin this, pumpkin that, a little pumpkin here, a little pumpkin there...

I LOVE pumpkin EVERYTHING!  I can't remember ever having something that had pumpkin in it and not liking it!  So, this fall, I'm going to attempt to make a whole bunch of pumpkiny things, all from scratch (or as many as humanly possible)!  This may cause me to have so much pumpkin that I start to dislike it, but that's very highly unlikely!  So, I hope that you're along for the ride, and if you have any yummy or neat "pumpkiny" things to share, please do, the more the merrier! I'm hoping to do some work on my blog, for now I will label all  Pumpkin Love posts as such, and maybe I can make something else work!

Day Off and PJ Pants

So I have the day off today from working the weekend!  My goal is to actually start and maybe complete sewing pj pants for myself.  I bought some purple flannel a few months ago and finally pre-shrunk it and now I'm ready to go!  The main reason for sewing my own is because pj pants are always too short for my long legs :P  Wish me luck!  Pics to come!

Whipstitch Fabrics

This is one neat place I want to visit!  Check out the etsy shop, blog, and website! She teaches all sorts of sewing classes and has great guests that come in and teach as well!  Then there is also Deborah's own blog that is amazing so check them all out!

Then there's a book, that I really really really want! And guess who the book is by?  Deborah!  She is amazing!

Uploading picture frustrations

I've been having difficulty uploading my own pics, so that explains the lack of photos!  Hopefully I can figure this out SOON!

Women Living Well

A few days ago I was reading a friends blog, and she wrote about this blog, and how it has been challenging her.  Now that I have been reading it, I agree with her and I challenge you to check it out too!

Button making

I love this tutorial from Katy of No Big Dill.  In fact I follow her blog quite regulary!  She always has great ideas that are beautiful and practical! This post really inspired me, and now I am filled with endless possibilities!  I thought it was kind of neat how she posted this a few days after I made my first button (which I have yet to document and blog about..oops)!  She has taken button making to the next level!  Click here to link to her blog for the tutorial!  I can't wait to try out some of these ideas!
